Purple Flower Headband

Going along with the theme of handmade Christmas gifts, here is a headband I made for a 10-year-old.  It has interchangeable flowers that slide over the buttons.

The headband was made using a chain-less foundation technique.  It is about 19″ but stretches to about 22″.

The flowers were made using a simple  free flower pattern from The Homemade Dress.

The button is a spare shirt or pant button I had on hand.

Crochet Hooks Used:
     Headband: Size G (4.25mm)
     Flowers: Size D (3.25mm)

Yarn Used:
Red Heart Super Saver – Dk Orchid
Red Heart Super Saver – Plum Pudding
Bernat Baby Sport – Light Lilac

Angry Bird Ornaments

Here is my first Christmas craft of the year.  I saw this ornament idea on the blog Obsessively Stitching and just had to try it.  My daughter freaked out.  She loves Angry Birds and now Mommy is super cool because she can make them. (Oh, and the ones on the right were hers to decorate)

Give it a try!  They are incredibly easy and cheap.

Let me know your experience and please leave a comment!

Welcome to Heather’s Craft Corner

Let’s be honest.  I am probably the last person any of my friends thought they would see become crafty, but here we are!  I have a tendency to get bored with things and want to move on to something else, which may be great for this blog.  I like to learn new things and to try them just to see if I can do it.

Right now, I have a slight obsession with crochet.  I did not sit and crochet with my grandmother or my mother as a child…ever.  So, I have basically started from scratch.  My hope is to learn and give pointers for even the most basic techniques in crochet.  I also enjoy looking for new patterns, and would love to share those as well.

I will also have some of my creations available for purchase.  If you’re looking for cute gifts, keep checking back!

Please join me in my adventure.  I’m sure it will be a lot of fun as we discover the joy of creating stuff together.
